Leon, Nicaragua

On Eagles Wings Ministry was founded in 2008 in Leon, Nicaragua, by Oscar Corea and his wife Rosibel Gomez. Originally started as a community Bible study where they fed the children of their neighborhood and shared the love of God, the ministry has expanded to a network of 150 churches throughout the country who dynamically serve their communities through feeding programs, evangelism, discipleship, sports ministry, education, and family programming. On Eagles Wings Ministry consistently lives out James 1:27 on a daily basis, "Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world." They are passionate about seeing the people of Nicaragua experiencing a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ and growing in the life God has for them. The heartbeat of the ministry is to do everything with excellence, to trust God for all things, and to use any platform possible to share the Good News.

Another key aspect of the ministry is their commitment to building homes for families living in the El Limonal dump community outside the city. The residents of El Limonal live and work in an area known locally as the ‘circle of death,’ a strip of land that was intended for use as a temporary refugee camp for those left homeless by Hurricane Mitch in 1998. Mitch was the second deadliest Atlantic hurricane in recorded history and destroyed an entire neighborhood in the north Pacific Nicaraguan city of Chinandega. El Limonal was, at the time, the only city property large enough for the government to use for temporary housing, yet twenty years later the families were still living there. In the last decade On Eagles Wings Ministry has built close to 100 homes for these families living in El Limonal.

Oscar and Rosibel also have two wonderful children who help them extensively with the ministry. Beverly, their daughter, is 18 years old and Josue, their son, is 14 years old. Due to their passion and commitment to serve the people of Nicaragua, On Eagles Wings Ministry is constantly innovating new ways to reach people for Christ. They currently have a Soccer Academy that trains and ministers to 100 children throughout the week as well as sports outreaches through baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Recently, they launched two new baseball leagues for the community with great participation and success. They also serve the community through their Hospital Ministry where they regularly visit children in the local hospitals to bring them hope, joy, and comfort. They also regularly host medical clinics in the different villages where people can't afford doctor's visits and care. Lastly, they host a monthly pastors gathering at the Dream Center to encourage and equip the leaders in their network in how to strategically extend God's kingdom through their work.

A key aspect of the ministry's success is their partnership with churches and people from outside Nicaragua who come down to volunteer and serve alongside the On Eagles Ministry teams. Together, these partnerships are changing the spiritual landscape of Nicaragua!
